CASTILLO DE ARESAN

In the heart of La Mancha, in the fields of Villarrobledoㅤis located Castillo de Aresán, a winemaking facility which commenced its activity in the 80's together with the first vine plantings in the region. Against this background, various varieties were planted, the fields were expanded and it was decided to build a winery within the same estate, in the heart of the vineyards. Construction commenced in late 1999.

Following the success of the first harvests and driven by its passion for wine, Castillo de Aresan has established itself as a reference benchmark company in the region. The certification of the wines under the D.O. La Mancha bears witness to the quality of the products. With the desire to create high-quality musts, nothing is left to chance, from the planting of the vines to the final bottling stage. More than cultivating, tending to the grapes, given that according to our philosophy, having an excellent fruit is essential to be able to obtain a high quality wine. Castillo de Aresan possesses organic and vegan certifications since the 2018 vintage.

A bottling line was installed in 2019 with the objective of controlling the creation of our products from the work in the field to the bottle. Castillo de Aresan has a completely refurbished ageing cellar with a barrel room of 800 French oak barrels and a large number of amphorae, which enable the aromas and flavours of the wines to be worked on with great dedication.

Joseph Helfrich founded the Les Grands Chais de France in 1979, with the desire to promote the diversity of both French and foreign wines. Its strategy has always been to offer a comprehensive range of wines to satisfy the thirst of wine lovers.

The Group's presence in the main French wine-growing regions and several countries around the world has enabled Les Grands Chais de France to become an absolute leader, internationally recognised.

The Group's history is first and foremost the story of a family driven by a passion for wine and the terroir. Supported by his wife Laurence and their children Frédéric and Anne-Laure, by their spouses and by Guillaume, Laurence's son, the Helfrich family puts its passion, its dynamism and its continuous investment at the service of the Group's development.

The LGCF Group acquired the Castillo de Aresan Winery in August 2017, on the eve of the start of the harvest. A new page opens for the French family-owned business: the challenge of blending its French savoir-faire together with the specificities of the Spanish terroir. 

Its mission: to invest in the vineyard, in the state-of-the-art technologies to ensure a quality harvest, essential for the success of the vinification and to attain the best possible ageing of each wine. Without forgetting to attend to the needs of the land which will bear us the fruit of our treasure wine.
